Drummers will gather in the beer garden. Please bring your own instrument and chair if possible. About Elmore Lawson: "I was born and raised in the Philippines in a small island called Batang. The community was the foundation for survival in that island. Individuality was not emphasized on the island because we each relied on each other for survival. Therefore, the individual and the community interconnected and formed a complete entity. I was accustomed to this lifestyle and it was the only lifestyle I knew that existed. So when my whole family and I moved to the U.S.A. the culture shock was dramatic and unbearable. It was like being on a different planet. Individuality was the foundation, competition was the goal and cooperation was not the priority. I felt lost and confused. These emotions led to the birth of my passion for drumming. I stumbled upon a drum circle when I lived in Chicago and I experienced the power of community in the drum circle. I was immediately transformed and from that day on I have known why I am here."
